EDUCATION

Dr Yiannis Papayiannis began his medical studies at the University of Athens Medical School, graduating in 1976. He then served as an Assistant at the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of St. Paul’s Hospital in Kifissia from January 1974 to December 1976.

Between December 1976 and January 1978, he undertook specialisation in the Angiothoracic Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital, before beginning his three-year specialisation in Orthopaedics at the same institution, which he completed in February 1981.

On 1 September 1981, he was awarded the title of Consultant in Orthopaedics by the University of Athens.

In 1997, Dr Papayiannis completed a scholarship programme at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, where he spent one month expanding his expertise. The following year, in 1998, he received a Fulbright Scholarship and trained for three months at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Joint Diseases Hospital in New York City.

In 1999–2000, he pursued further academic development by earning a Master’s Degree in Management from the Mediterranean Institute of Management.

Throughout his career, Dr Papayiannis has actively participated in numerous conferences and workshops in Cyprus, Europe, the United States, and Dubai, continually advancing his knowledge and staying abreast of the latest developments in orthopaedics and trauma care

SPECIALIZATION

Dr Papayiannis specialises in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, with extensive training in orthopaedic and trauma care acquired during his career and through advanced studies at renowned international institutions.

EXPERIENCE

Dr Papayiannis has been practising as a Private Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Apollonion Private Hospital since May 2013.

From September 2010 to May 2013, he served as the Director of the Orthopaedic Department at Nicosia General Hospital, a position he also held at Larnaca General Hospital from April 2008 to September 2010.

Between February 2001 and August 2008, he worked as the Assistant Director of the Orthopaedic Department at Nicosia General Hospital. Earlier in his career, he served as an Orthopaedic Surgeon Registrar at the same institution from February 1987 to January 2001.

Dr Papayiannis initially established himself as a Private Orthopaedic Surgeon from April 1983 to January 1987. Before that, he worked as a Consultant at the 2nd Orthopaedic Clinic of St. Paul’s Hospital in Kifissia, Athens, from October 1981 to February 1983.
