EDUCATION
Dr Spyridakis was Born in Nicosia and was educated at the Pancyprian Gymnasium. He went on to study Medicine subsequently at the University of Athens for 5 years and nine months at the Ethnikon and Kapodistriakon University with distinctions.
SPECIALIZATION
Dr Spyridakis specializes in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. Over a period of ten years, he attended teaching Hospitals in the UK where he also worked and obtained his two independent specialties in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. The Teaching Hospitals he attended and worked were Oldchurch Hospital Romford, attached to Rush Green Hospital for Infectious Diseases where he was a Registrar, and Victoria Hospital Romford. Dr Spyridakis also served as Senior Registrar at Frimley Park Hospital Camberley Surrey, the National Heart Hospital, The London Hospital and St. Bartholomews Hospital.
Dr Spyridakis passed the conjoint examination and acquired the title LRCP (London) MRCS England and MRCP (UK) for Medicine and Cardiology in London.
EXPERIENCE
Dr Spyridakis has been working successfully in Nicosia as a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist for 30 years; 10 in his own Surgery and twenty as partner at the Hippocrateon Private Hospital and holds fully computerized notes of over 25.000 individual patients.
Before returning to Cyprus, while in the UK at Cardiology Department at Oldchurch Hospital Romford he was in charge of a seven bedded Coronary care Unit for five years. The Unit provided Cardiac Catheterization and pacing.
He has contributed to several publications in The Lancet, for example the use of Nifedipine on Hypertension and Ischaemic Heart Disease, Rota Virus Infections, and others.
