EDUCATION
Dr Michalis Kounnoushis graduated from Makarios Lyceum in Larnaca in 1999. After completing 26 months of mandatory military service, he pursued his medical studies at the University of Patras, from which he graduated in 2007.
He subsequently completed six years of training in general surgery at hospitals in Cyprus. In recognition of his training and expertise, he was awarded the speciality of General Surgery by Thessaloniki University.

- Laparoscopic Surgery: Bariatric surgeries (e.g., sleeve gastrectomy), cholecystectomy, hernia repairs (umbilical, inguinal, hiatus, incisional, abdominal), colectomy, appendectomy, splenectomy, abdominal mass removal, and adrenalectomy.
- Classical General Surgeries: Treatment of breast diseases (both cancerous and benign lesions) and melanoma with lymph node removal (radical or sentinel).

EXPERIENCE
Dr Kounnoushis has extensive experience performing a wide range of surgical procedures, particularly in laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques. Since 2014, he has been practising as a general surgeon in the private sector.
He has performed a significant number of laparoscopic operations, including hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, and advanced procedures such as bariatric surgeries (sleeve gastrectomies) and colectomies. His expertise also includes more than 500 cases of LASER techniques for perianal diseases, offering effective and minimally invasive solutions for conditions such as haemorrhoids and pilonidal sinus.
Dr Kounnoushis has substantial experience in mastectomies, including oncoplastic procedures and sentinel lymph node biopsies, which are performed in collaboration with nuclear medicine specialists. He also regularly performs laparoscopic appendectomies and assists in laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries.
As a clinical tutor, Dr Kounnoushis collaborates with the University of Nicosia (UNIC), mentoring fourth-year medical students. His dedication to professional development is reflected in his active participation in workshops and seminars across Europe and globally, where he stays informed about the latest advancements and technological innovations in his field.
