EDUCATION
Dr Zavros finished high school, graduating from the Pancyprian Kykkos Gymnasium in Nicosia in 1973. He then went on to study medicine at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki from where he received his Medical Degree in 1983. In 1987 Dr Zavros received his licence and certification from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus.
SPECIALIZATION
Dr Zavros specializes in Nephrology. He went on to do his specialization in 1986 at the Nephrology Department of the Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, Greece. After completing his specialization, he received his speciality certification from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus in 1990.
EXPERIENCE
Dr Zavros has 36 years’ experience working in the medical field and 30 years’ experience as a specialist in Nephrology. He worked as an intern from 1986 to 1990 at the Nephrology Department of Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens. Upon his return to Cyprus in 1990 Dr Zavros headed the Nephrology Department at Larnaca General Hospital. From May 1994 to July 1995, he was assistant director of the Nephrology Department at Limassol General Hospital. Dr Zavros then moved on to Nicosia General Hospital and from August that year until 2001 he worked as a Specialist Nephrologist at the same hospital. By the end of 2001 he became Assistant Director of the Nephrology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital, a position he held until 2006. In May 2006 Dr Zavros became Head of the Nephrology Clinic which also included the Transplant Clinic from 2011 onwards, of Nicosia General Hospital. As of October 2020, Dr Zavros offers his services as a Specialist MD /Nephrologist under the General Health Service (GESY).
Dr Zavros is also a Founding Member of the Cyprus Renal Association (2009) which he was President of, for the period 2012-2014. From 1991 to 2021 he was a member of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). He is a member of the European Renal Association (ERA – EDTA), and a member of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology. He has attended and participated in over 100 Medical Conferences and Seminars.
