EDUCATION

After doing a one-year foundation course in the Romanian language, from 1989 to 1999, Dr Vasiliou then went on to study medicine at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania from where she received her medical degree in 2005. Her degree was recognised as equal and corresponding to the degrees granted by the Departments of Medicine of the Schools of Health Sciences of the Greek Higher Education Institutions. After going through exams in General Medicine, Gynecology, Paediatrics and Surgery at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens she received one more medical degree in 2007.

In 2013 she reached Expert Level in Medical Research Methodology and in Applied Medical Statistics Levels I & II.

From 2011 to 2016 she received training in the following:

• Oncology and Hematology from the 3rd University Hospital of the “Sotiria” General Hospital of Thoracic Diseases Oncology Unit
• Cardiology from the 1st Cardiology Clinic of the University of Athens at the Hippokration General Hospital
• Intensive care and advanced care training from the 1st University Pulmonology Clinic of the “Sotiria” General Hospital of Thoracic Diseases
• Pathology specialty from the 3rd University Hospital of the “Sotiria” General Hospital of Thoracic Diseases at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

SPECIALIZATION

Dr Vasiliou specialises in Internal Medicine.

She is also skilled in performing spirometry and interpreting the results and performing and evaluating skin tests for allergies.

EXPERIENCE

Dr Vasiliou has been working as a Special Pathologist and Personal Physician within the framework of the General Health Service (GHS) since 2019 and was at the Nicosia Medical Centre until September 2022.

Previously to that she started out in 2006 by doing her pre-registration at the Pathology and Surgery Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital.  From 2008 to 2011 she served as 2nd Class Medical Officer at the Medical and Public Health Services of Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.

Dr Vasiliou was a Scientific associate at the Medical School of the University of Cyprus as well as the School of Medicine of the University of Nicosia from 2017 to 2018. In the same year she also worked as Specialist Pathologist at the E & A Department of the Apollonion Private Hospital.

From September 2018 until May of 2019, she was appointed 1st Class Medical Officer and worked as a Specialist Pathologist at the Strovolos Health Centre.

She has done research and published in various medical journals and presented her research at various medical conferences.
