EDUCATION
Dr Potamitis graduated from the Pancyprian Gymnasium in 1969. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1976. In the summer of 1974 Dr Potamitis took part in a student exchange program and worked in the Medical Department Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen.
From 1976 to 1977 Dr Potamitis worked in the Nicosia General Hospital, in Cyprus where he completed his one-year preregistration internship. He returned to Greece in 1977 where he worked at the Department of Internal Medicine of the Ippokration General Hospital in Athens until 1980, completing the requirements for his speciality in Internal Medicine.
SPECIALIZATION
In 1981 Dr Potamitis joined the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Department of the Ippokration General Hospital of Athens Greece. He attained his speciality in Gastroenterology in 1983. During his training at the Ippokration General Hospital from 1982 to 1983 Dr Potamitis received his Fellowship in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in the 1st Medical Department Endoscopy unit of the AICHI CANCER Centre Hospital in Nagoya, Japan.
EXPERIENCE
Upon his return to Cyprus in 1984 Dr Potamitis opened his own Private Practice, a Medical Gastroenterology, and Internal Medicine Centre with an Endoscopy Unit, which he still runs until today. From 1990 he is also an External consultant Gastroenterologist-Hepatologist at Apollonio Private Hospital, from 2017 an External consultant Gastroenterologist-Hepatologist at AMC Clinic and as of 2021 he also collaborates with ZOE Medical Diagnostic Centre Endoscopy Unit.
Dr Potamitis is a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He once served as President of the Cyprus Medical Council.
