EDUCATION
Dr Kleanthous obtained her medical degree from Athens University Medical School. She also received a cardiology diploma from the same school. She then went on to University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg where she studied sports medicine and obtained the title Certificate des etudes Speciales de Biologie et Medicine du Sport as well as a cardiology diploma Certificate des Etudes Speciales de Cardiologie.
SPECIALIZATION
Dr Kleanthous specializes in Cardiology and is constantly enriching her knowledge through postgraduate courses, seminars, and trainings. She took a Visiting Fellow Course in all phases of echocardiography at the Chaim Sheba Medical Centre-Tel Hashomer Hospital-Israel, as well as a course in Transoesophageal echocardiography at the same Medical Centre and an Electrophysiology course at the Tel Aviv -Elias, Sackller Faculty of Medicine, School of continuing medical education.
In Israel she also attended a 20-hour Emergency Medicine Workshop at the Central First Aid Training School of Magen David Adorn.
She has participated in a workshop on Dual chamber implantable tachy-arrhythmia Devices training at the Bakken Education Centre in Tolochenaz Switzerland and in the Brady Seminar in Nicosia by Medronic.
Dr Kleanthous represented Cyprus at the 4th annual experts meeting in Budapest.
In 2002 Dr Kleanthous received a Fulbright Scholarship on electrophysiology at the Harvard Medical School – Cardiac Arrhythmias Service Cardiovascular Division. She trained at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the field of electrophysiology, pacemakers, and defibrillators
EXPERIENCE
Dr Kleanthous is an Honorary Professor in Cardiology at St George’s Medical School at the University of Nicosia.
She was Assistant Director in Cardiology at the Nicosia General Hospital and Ex-President of the Heart Failure Working Group. She served as Cardiologist at the Nicosia General Hospital Cardiology Department and was an Institutional member of the first Cardiology Department in Cyprus. Dr Kleanthous also served as Director of the Cardiology Department at Larnaca General Hospital. She is a Fellow contributor University of Cyprus Expert scientist. Dr Kleanthous is a member of numerous Societies including the French Cardiac Electrophysiology Society and the French Cardiac Electrophysiology Society of Biology and Sports Medicine, the Cyprus Society of Cardiology, the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, the Hellenic Society of Sports Medicine, the Hellenic Hypertensive Society, the European Society of Cardiology, the Working Group of Heart Failure of the Cyprus Society of Cardiology and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.
