EDUCATION
Dr Andrea Petrou completed her medical studies at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, graduating in 2012 with Cum Laude honours. She has pursued extensive post-graduate training and certifications to enhance her expertise in rheumatology and internal medicine.
In 2021, she was board-certified in Internal Medicine – Rheumatology. The same year, she completed the Kapillarmikroskopy Virtual Course on January 20.
In 2020, she attended the Virtual Seminar EULAR 2020 on imaging in rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis (October 28) and completed the Arthrosonography Advanced Course at DEGUM Heidelberg from October 16 to October 18.
In 2019, she participated in the 5th Imaging Course in Rheumatology at Rheumazentrum Ruhrgebiet Herne on November 15 and 16. Earlier in her training, she completed the Arthrosonography Basic Course at DEGUM Bad Dürkheim from August 7 to August 9, and a refresher Arthrosonography Course at DEGUM Cologne on September 15, 2018.
Her additional training includes the 96th Introductory Course in Intensive Care Medicine in Arnsberg, Germany, from June 23 to June 30, 2017, and the Basic and Special Course in Radiation Protection in 2016.
Dr Petrou’s secondary education was completed at the Gymnasium and Lyceum of Palouriotissa, Nicosia, from 1999 to 2005.
SPECIALIZATION
Dr Petrou specialises in Rheumatology, with a strong focus on advanced imaging techniques and clinical rheumatology.
EXPERIENCE
Dr Petrou has significant experience in rheumatology and internal medicine, gained through various roles across Europe.
From January 15, 2018, to December 31, 2021, she completed her residency in rheumatology at the Rheumazentrum Ruhrgebiet Herne. Prior to this, she served as a resident in internal medicine at St. Maria Hospital Vreden from January 1, 2015, to December 30, 2017. She also completed a residency in rheumatology at St. Marien Hospital Vreden from December 16, 2013, to December 31, 2014.
Dr Petrou gained early clinical experience as a student assistant in the Leipzig University Clinic Emergency Room from August 1, 2013, to November 15, 2013.
