EDUCATION

Dr Alkis Lapithis was born in Nicosia and pursued his medical studies at the Medical School of Bucharest, where he earned his medical degree in 1989.

SPECIALIZATION

In February 1995, Dr Lapithis was awarded the title of Specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. During his specialisation and in the subsequent years, he participated in numerous international conferences, focusing on areas such as trauma, joint replacement, arthroscopic techniques, and osteoporosis.

In 2002, he further specialised in Neurosurgery and earned the title of Specialist in Neurosurgery. He continued his training in advanced endoscopic techniques for the treatment of spinal pathologies, further expanding his expertise in minimally invasive procedures.

EXPERIENCE

After completing his specialisations in Orthopaedics and Traumatology and later in Neurosurgery, Dr Lapithis worked as a specialist in both Cyprus and abroad. For many years, he was based at Apollonio Hospital, where he performed thousands of surgeries across his areas of expertise.

Dr Lapithis has conducted a wide range of surgical procedures, including:

• Joint replacement surgeries, including minimally invasive techniques
• Arthroscopic procedures for the shoulder and knee
• Trauma surgeries, where he pioneered nailing techniques
• Minimally invasive surgeries for spinal pathologies, specialising in endoscopic techniques

Since June 2019, Dr Lapithis has been working within the General Healthcare System (GHS), continuing to provide high-quality care to his patients.
