Occupational Therapy Group Sessions

Platonas Medical Center (PMC) is proud to introduce a new group programme offered by our Occupational Therapy department.

This programme, conducted weekly, has been specifically designed for our rehabilitation inpatients, and is provided in addition to the personalised, private, and tailored Occupational Therapy sessions they already receive. This innovative service reflects our commitment to delivering holistic, patient-centred care that supports every aspect of our patients’ recovery journey.

Our new group programme is grounded in the psychosocial model, an evidence-based approach that focuses on the complex interactions between thoughts, emotions, and biological processes, and their impact on behaviour and health. This model emphasises the importance of addressing both the psychological and social dimensions of recovery, alongside physical rehabilitation.

Research demonstrates that group programmes based on the psychosocial model yield significant benefits for rehabilitation patients. Group settings foster social interaction, mutual support, and a sense of community, which are vital for emotional and mental well-being. Additionally, they encourage skill-building and coping mechanisms in a collaborative environment, complementing the individualised sessions already provided.

By incorporating this group programme into our rehabilitation services, we aim to provide an even more comprehensive and enriching treatment for our patients. The programme not only addresses the physical aspects of recovery but also fosters emotional resilience, cognitive improvement, and social connectedness, ensuring a well-rounded approach to treatment.
