EDUCATION

Dr Yerasimos Kyriakides graduated with Honours from the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1994. In 1995, following the successful completion of the required examinations, his medical degree was officially recognised as equivalent to a degree awarded by Greek universities.

Between 1995 and 2002, he completed his specialist training in Otorhinolaryngology across several leading hospitals in Cyprus and Greece, including Larnaca General Hospital, Nicosia General Hospital, Penteli Children’s General Hospital, and Evangelismos General Hospital. During this period, he received comprehensive training in both adult and paediatric ENT surgery, while also completing rotations in Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery.

In February 2002, after successfully passing the written and oral examinations organised by the Greek Ministry of Health and the University of Athens, he was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT).

Throughout his career, Dr Kyriakides has remained committed to continuing professional development by regularly attending advanced international courses, workshops and scientific meetings in the fields of rhinology, endoscopic sinus surgery, laser surgery and otology.

SPECIALIZATION

Dr Kyriakides specialises in the diagnosis and surgical management of the full spectrum of adult and paediatric ear, nose and throat disorders.

He has undertaken advanced international training in Laser Surgery under Professor Jean Abitbol in Paris and Professor Marc Remacle at the University Hospital of Mont-Godinne in Belgium. He has extensive experience in laser-assisted surgery for the treatment of both benign and malignant lesions of the larynx and upper aerodigestive tract.

His clinical expertise also includes Rhinology and Endoscopic Nasal Surgery. Since 1999, he has pursued continuous postgraduate education in functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) and rhinoplasty at specialised centres in Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has successfully performed a large number of endoscopic nasal and sinus procedures.

In addition, Dr Kyriakides has received specialised training in Microsurgery of the Ear in France and Italy. His practice includes tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy and other advanced ear procedures for the treatment of chronic ear disease and hearing disorders.

He also performs the full range of routine ENT surgical procedures, including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, insertion of ventilation tubes (grommets), septoplasty, turbinate surgery, microlaryngoscopy and other procedures involving the nose, throat and larynx.

EXPERIENCE

Dr Yerasimos Kyriakides is a highly experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon with more than two decades of specialist practice in Cyprus. His clinical experience spans both public and private healthcare sectors, covering the complete spectrum of adult and paediatric otorhinolaryngology.

Since 2007, he has been a member of the medical team at Aretaeio Hospital, where he performs a wide range of ENT surgical procedures, with particular expertise in laser surgery, endoscopic nasal surgery and ear microsurgery. Prior to joining Aretaeio Hospital, he established his private practice in Cyprus in 2002, following a short appointment as Acting Head of the ENT Department at Alexandroupolis General Hospital in Greece.

His specialist training between 1995 and 2002 included appointments at Larnaca General Hospital, Nicosia General Hospital, Penteli Children’s General Hospital and Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, where he acquired extensive experience in adult and paediatric ENT surgery, as well as multidisciplinary training in Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery.

Throughout his professional career, Dr Kyriakides has remained actively involved in continuing medical education, regularly attending national and international scientific meetings, specialist workshops and advanced surgical training courses.

Alongside his clinical practice, he has contributed to undergraduate medical education, participating in the clinical training of medical students at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He has also been involved in the teaching of junior doctors and nursing staff during his specialist training.

Dr Kyriakides has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed scientific publications in international otorhinolaryngology journals, particularly in the fields of endoscopic laser surgery and image-guided sinonasal and skull base surgery. He is a member of the Cyprus Society of Otorhinolaryngology, the Hellenic Society of Otorhinolaryngology, the European Rhinologic Society, and the European Society for Swallowing Disorders.
