SPECIALIZATION
Specialisation and Clinical Interests
Dr Kroushovski specialises in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma with particular clinical interests in sports-related injuries, joint preservation, and reconstructive procedures. His expertise encompasses:
- Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, including anterior and posterior cruciate ligament (ACL/PCL) reconstruction, meniscal repair, rotator cuff procedures, treatment of shoulder instability, and management of impingement syndromes.
- Primary and revision joint arthroplasty of the hip and knee, with a strong focus on functional outcomes and long-term implant durability.
- Fracture management and trauma surgery, including advanced internal fixation techniques for injuries of both the upper and lower limbs.
- Joint preservation techniques for young and active individuals, applying a combination of surgical and evidence-based conservative approaches tailored to each patient.
His practice is defined by precise surgical technique, integration of modern biologics and biomechanics, and a personalised, patient-centred philosophy of care. He provides comprehensive treatment plans that address both elite athletic performance and general orthopaedic needs.
EXPERIENCE
Since 2025, Dr Kroushovski has been based at the University of Nicosia Medical Centre, a transition from Apollonion Private Hospital where he served from 2014 to 2025. The move reflects his commitment to a more individualised model of care, combining clinical excellence with a close-knit setting that enables continuity, accessibility, and deeper patient relationships. His current role also integrates academic and clinical responsibilities in a dynamic teaching hospital environment.
Between 2005 and 2014, Dr Kroushovski trained and practised in major orthopaedic and trauma centres in both Cyprus and the United Kingdom, including Nicosia General Hospital. During this period, he built extensive experience managing complex trauma cases and performing a wide spectrum of orthopaedic operations, solidifying his surgical foundation across multiple subspecialties.
Throughout his career, he has remained actively engaged in international orthopaedic development, regularly participating in advanced surgical workshops, global conferences, and cross-disciplinary research projects to remain at the forefront of modern orthopaedic and sports medicine.
Academic and Research Activity
Since 2011, Dr Kroushovski has been an integral part of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at the University of Nicosia Medical School, where he holds the position of Clinical Skills Lead and Senior Lecturer. He plays a central role in the design and delivery of clinical simulation, surgical skills training, curriculum development, and assessment methodology.
His academic interests include:
- Orthopaedic anatomy and surgical training through high-fidelity simulation models and structured clinical instruction
- Mentoring and supervising medical students and junior doctors pursuing careers in surgery
- Advancing curricular innovation aligned with the UK General Medical Council’s (GMC) clinical competency framework
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr Kroushovski is an active research collaborator. He is a core member of the OACTIVE consortium, a multidisciplinary Horizon 2020-funded European project. The initiative aims to develop AI-powered predictive models for the progression of knee osteoarthritis, supporting the creation of personalised treatment protocols. The project brings together 13 institutions across 7 countries, integrating clinical, imaging, and biomechanical data to advance preventative strategies in musculoskeletal medicine.
