EDUCATION

Dr Koukou attended the Department of Medical Radiologic Technology, Faculty of Health and Caring Professions, Technological Educational Institute of the Higher School of Health, and Social Welfare Department in Athens, from 1981 to 1983. In 1983 she went on to study medicine at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens from where she graduated in 1989. She did her internship in Pathology at the 3rd University Pathology Clinic of the University of Athens from 1992 to 1997.

SPECIALIZATION

Dr Koukou specializes in Diabetology, with a special interest in Diabetes Mellitus and obesity – training she received from 1999 to 2000 at the 1st Pre-Educational Pathology Clinic and Special Nosology of the University of Athens – Diabetes Center Athens “Laiko” Hospital. From 2000 to 2001 she specialized in Arterial Hypertension at the Hypertensive Clinic of the 1st Pre-Educational University Pathology Clinic of the University General Hospital of Athens.

EXPERIENCE

From 1984 up to 2011 Dr Koukou has worked in various hospitals and Headed Pathology Departments all over Greece. She opened her own private practice in 2011. After moving to Cyprus in 2019 she has been offering her services as a Pathologist under the General Health Service (GESY). She also collaborated with Ippokration Private Hospital in Nicosia for a year, from 2019 to 2020. In 2021 she worked for the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre. Dr Koukou collaborates as a pathologist and inpatient doctor with Apollonio Private Hospital in Nicosia, The Saint Maria & Ioannis Polyclinic, Platonas Medical Center, and Nicosia Polyclinic.
