EDUCATION
Dr Stefanou achieved his M.D. from Athens University and followed this with a five-year Internal Medicine residency at CRMH, Virginia, the Yale-affiliated Norwalk Hospitals, and Cyprus.
Dr Stefanou also attained a two-year fellowship in the ICU at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens; thereafter, a Ph.D. in Pathophysiology (“Exploration of the Mechanisms of the Effects of Electrical Muscle Stimulationn in the critically ill”); subsequent extensive training in Cyprus, Greece, and Europe, achieving the European Diploma of Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) as well as the European Diploma of Echocardiography in the ICU (EDEC); and further ICU training at the Nepean Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Dr Stefanou has authored articles in several accredited international medical journals and has received numerous prizes and awards.
SPECIALIZATION
Dr Stefanou’s specialties include Internal Medicine; Critical (Intensive) Care Medicine (National Board and European -EDIC- Certified); and a subspecialty in Cardiac Echo in ICU (EDEC). Dr Stefanou owns a Ph.D.
EXPERIENCE
As an Internist or a General Physician, Dr Stefanou is currently practicing as a Personal Physician with GHS (Γεσυ), as well as in affiliation with several Hospitals for inpatient care; and has served at Palladio Clinic (Athens). As an Intensivist, Dr Stefanou has served at the Nicosia and Limassol General and Aretaeio Private Hospitals.
Academically, has served as an honorary Assistant Professor at St. George’s University Hospital, a Special Collaborator of the TEPAC, and a trainer and provider of psychosocial support as the president of the Health and Psychosocial Support Team of the Cyprus Red Cross.
